September 15, 2015by Sophie The Dog

Your HVAC units might be taking a break this month, with your furnace taking its well-deserved break after weeks of hard work in the summer; and your heating unit not quite needed yet. This doesn’t mean, however, that you should forego maintaining them or having them checked. You wouldn’t want to spend the coming winter and the next summer suffering from a costly energy bill, so take this opportunity to have your HVAC equipment inspected or repaired by Charlotte, NC HVAC contractors.

Repairing Your Heating & Cooling System Now

Have you noticed that, during the summer, you weren’t getting consistent cooling, yet your energy bills were skyrocketing? You might also have been bothered by some unexplainable noises coming from the unit. These are just among the surest signs that you need HVAC repair and maintenance as soon as possible.

Even without these tell-tale signs of trouble, you still need to have regular maintenance performed on your system, primarily by replacing the filters as needed. Additionally, have your system inspected by professionals to make sure all parts are still working optimally after their long hours of operation this past summer.

Warning Signs

In all HVAC equipment, be it your air conditioning unit or furnace and heaters, one of the factors that could spell the need for repairs is the equipment’s age. The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors estimates that central air conditioning units could last for up to 10 to 15 years, depending on how you maintain them. On the other hand, the National Association of Home Builders says that a furnace can last for as long as 15 to 25 years, but for any system that is over 8 years old; a new system would be much more efficient that the one you currently have.

In the case of furnaces, unexplainable noises, while needing a close inspection, don’t immediately warrant a repair. Instead, watch out for unusual odors, more particularly a burning odor, coming from your HVAC unit. For furnaces, meanwhile, repair is inevitable once you find that the rooms inside your home are unnaturally dry when the heating system is on.

Once you detect these signs from your HVAC equipment, don’t delay on calling Charlotte, NC heating and air repair services, like Patterson Heating and Air, so you can be sure your home is ready for any season.
